A Mid-summer Luncheon Gathering with SMU Alumni at The Chinese Banks' Association

The committee members of Saint Mary's University Alumni Hong Kong Chapter organized a luncheon gathering on Saturday, August 8 at The Chinese Banks' Association at 5/F, South China Building in Central. Although one of our committee members, Mr. Harold Ho, emigrated to Canada last year and therefore could not attend now, we are glad Mr. Hon Lai Ling, joined us this time for a reunion. In fact, a wide range of alumni graduating from 1970s to 1990s were present at the gathering.

During the luncheon gathering, we discussed the low intake of Hong Kong students at SMU over the past two decades, as many now prefer to pursue their studies in the UK or Australia. We also talked about tuition fees in the UK, though we seemed to have differing understandings of the annual cost. Upon reflection, the discrepancy likely stemmed from the difference in fees between local and international students.
